All my information comes from "mainstream media". About two weeks ago a New York Times article and the CNN website offered a glimpse of what is happening behind the scenes. There is a strong "anti-porn" law hidden in the stimulus bill passed by the U.S. Congress. The Feds are really cracking down on (mainly) "the exploitation of .... people whose birth year begins with the digit 2" and also on "copyright violations". Hamster user jana-chen says the same thing is happening in Europe. Hamster got caught by surprise because they have not done a good job policing this site. I think they owe us a detailed explanation of all that is happening so we can decide where to go from here. I am very frustrated and disappointed at the moment because I lost over 1200 Favorites in the great purge. But I think I will be patient for a while and see how it all shakes out. Maybe I'm being cynical, but I think Hamster is too big and too profitable to just shut down and go away.

I examined the profiles of several users who posted photos in the last few days. As indicated by the green check mark in the upper right corner of their profile, they are "Verified Users". I believe the requirement is to submit a photo showing your face while you are holding a handwritten sign with your user ID written on it. I am not 100% sure, but I believe this verification photo does not need to appear on your profile as long as Hamster has a copy of it tied to your profile. Other classes of posters appear to be "Content Sellers" and "Friends of Hamster". I assume these statuses also require some verification of your identity. If you are having trouble posting this might help.
